Olympic Stadium of Mitrovica, was build during the Yugoslavian time (1978-79) when the first famous match was organized between Yugoslavia and Rumania (2:1)
After the departure of Yugoslavia and war in Kosovo, this stadium was not maintained enough and it was used mostly for the needs of local soccer team, called “Trepça” and for matches such Kosova: Diaspora in 2000 and for athletic games and trainings.
This stadium has got reconstructed and invested on it, just on 2014 when FIFA allowed to Kosovo soccer team, to play friendly matches with other countries.
In 5th of March 2014, in the renovated stadium called “Adem Jashari” in Mitrovica, the match between Kosovo and Haiti was organized properly. Kosovo drew 0-0 in a friendly match with Haiti in their FIFA-approved debut on the international stage. A new arrangement was announced immediately for a friendly match within Kosovo and Turkey during May 2014.
